Bathing is essential to good health; it is the only way to allow the body’s largest organ to fully rest and detox. The skin sheds ten million dead skin cells per day, a large portion of them remain on the surface of the skin, resulting in buildup.
Bathing is the only way to fully hydrate the skin and allow the dead skin to soften and be safely removed without stressing the surface of the skin.
Otherwise, the pores will remain clogged and covered with an almost water-resistant layer of dead skin, preventing oxygen from getting in and toxins from getting out.
Cool Water Bathing
Cool water baths are healthier for your skin than hot baths. Coldwater helps tighten and brighten the skin, restores moisture levels, activates the lymphatic system, and invigorates your entire system. While there are effective healing modalities that require hot water bathing, a good rule, is to take more cool water baths than hot, to help alleviate inflammation.
Bathing Suggestions
Presoak in the tub for 10 to 15 minutes before washing your body, this allows your skin to become fully hydrated and gives the dead skin time to soften.
Bathing Tips
- Wash your bottom before getting in the tub, to cleanse it of fecal matter from the day’s bowel movements.
- Use a clean washcloth daily.
- I suggest using white towels for three reasons. The first, to prevent color dyes from leeching into your skin. The second, to allow you to see what is coming off your body. The third, white towels can be thoroughly disinfected without fear of discoloring them.
Use Quality Cleansing Soaps
It is vital that you use quality soaps to cleanse your body, PH balanced soaps that do not contain synthetic dyes, fragrance, or other harsh ingredients that will inhibit the healing of your skin.
I do not recommend the use of deodorant soaps of any nature they are far too harsh. I do recommend a vegetable-based soap from your local health food store. There are literally thousands of quality soaps on the market today, if you like fragrances, purchase one that contains pure essential oils instead of synthetic fragrances, there are also many fragrances as well as color-free options.
