DIY: Bathing Additives

All the additives listed below will help pull toxins from the body, to help cleanse and activate the skin. Try them all at different times to see what works best for you, maybe one or a combination of one or more just make sure to enjoy the process!

Sea Salt

Sea Salt draws the toxins out of the body, softens the water, and helps exfoliate dead skin. In addition, it helps to clear your energy field of stagnant energy.

Recommended Use:  Add 3 cups to running bathwater.

 Citrus Peel

Toss your already juiced lemons, limes, and grapefruit rinds in your running bathwater. Citrus helps draw toxins from the pores, brightens the complexion, tightens the skin, and activates the lymphatic system.

CAUTION: Do not use too many rinds, the citrus oil that excretes from the rind is very potent and can burn the skin.  The longer the rind stays in the water the less you should use, if you add the rind as the water is running and it sits in hot water, uses only 1/4 of the rind. Make sure to swish the water around, to thoroughly blend the citrus oil into the water before entering the tub.

Oat Milk Bath

Rolled oats (not quick oats) is an excellent alternative to the traditional milk bath, it helps to soften and tone the skin.

How to Use:

  1. Add 1 full cup to a white sock, tie in a knot.
  2. Toss in running hot bath water.
  3. Squeeze the wet sock several times to release the oat milk.

Epsom Salt

Epsom Salt makes a wonderful mineral bath; it helps lower blood pressure, extracts toxins from the bloodstream, and calms the nervous system because of its high magnesium content. In addition, it helps keep the bathwater cleaner by drawing impurities together.

Recommended Use:  At least twice weekly. Add 1 full cup to a full tub of water.

 Baking Soda

Baking soda helps to soften the water, exfoliate dead skin and detox the auric field.

How to Use – Add 1 pound to a full tub of water and soak for at least 20-minutes.

 Use Quality Cleansing Soaps

It is vital that you use quality soaps to cleanse your body, PH balanced soaps that do not contain synthetic dyes, fragrance, or other harsh ingredients that will inhibit the healing of your skin.

I do not recommend the use of deodorant soaps of any nature they are far too harsh. I do recommend a vegetable-based soap from your local health food store.

There are literally thousands of quality soaps on the market today, if you like fragrances, purchase one that contains pure essential oils instead of synthetic fragrances, there are also many fragrances as well as color-free options.

Soap Preserving Tip

Remove soap bars from the packaging when first purchased to allow them to dry out, they will last much longer. This is one of the reasons most handcrafted soaps are not sealed in packaging.
