Tips For Extreme Excess Skin

Generally, it is very easy to re-activate the skin through bodywork and nutrition, the challenge with excess skin is that it has detached from the muscle tissue and other vital systems, and therefore requires a baby step technique, with a longer recovery period. 

Naturally the more extreme the case the longer it will take, if you have already lost weight and your skin has detached from the muscle tissue, as in the above photo you will need to take a few extra steps to begin the process.  

But be encouraged it can be done, if you are willing to invest the time and patience to incorporate all aspects of the healing process. But you must nurture, pamper and be kind to yourself.

Special Instructions for extreme cases

Instead of using a body brush initially, you will begin the process by gently stroking and massaging in light long sweeping movements towards your heart, with your hands or a soft rolled towel, this will help improve the blood flow to the skin and increase overall circulation.

If the skin is extremely detached, you may need to move it over the bone area or rest it on a solid surface so that it lays flat and continue to do so until you have covered every inch of that area. 

For areas other than your arms surround hanging areas with both hands and lightly stroke in the direction of the heart. Continue to use this method until you feel your skin has strengthened enough to use a body brush.

Please Remember!

  • Be kind and compassionate with yourself. 
  • Do not pull and tug at your skin with disgust (like the above picture), how you feel about, and treat your body determines if it will respond to healing. 

Trust and Test the Process

To demonstrate to yourself that both, this method and how you feel about your skin makes a difference, perform the procedure on just one arm first, for two days, and compare how it looks in relation to the other arm. Not only will you see a difference, but you will also feel the difference between the nurtured area and the rest of your body. 

This helps your cells wake up, by sending a very important message that “ you do love and care about them/yourself ” and whether you believe it or not your body will respond to your touch, just as you respond to the touch of someone you care about, and that cares about you”.
