The first step to revitalizing the hair is proper and gentle shampooing and scalp stimulation – remember the blood flow to the scalp has a direct effect on the condition of the hair.
Shampooing
Before shampooing the hair it must be pre-rinsed for a minimum of 3 minutes. This ensures the hair is completely saturated and prevents the shampoo from burning it. Hot water can also be very damaging to the hair, decrease the water temperature after each shampoo application to minimize dryness and tangling.
When towel drying the hair, gently squeeze out excess water with your hands. Blot the hair with the towel, wet hair should never be twisted or rubbed with a towel because it is very fragile, breaks easily and raises the cuticle.
Shampoo Procedure
1. Massage the scalp for 5 minutes with balls of fingers to loosen, relax, and stimulate the blood flow to the scalp – this promotes growth.
2. Pre-rinse hair for a minimum of 3 minutes to completely saturate the hair.
3. Apply shampoo and gently massage into hair, keeping hair between fingers and massaging your scalp with balls of fingers – massaging your scalp with your fingernails causes damage to the scalp.
4. Rinse shampoo for a minimum of 3 minutes, repeat step 2.
5. If the hair is extra dirty re-apply shampoo a third time and immediately rinse for 3 additional minutes.
6. Pour Vinegar Water* over the hair let sit for 3 seconds and rinse – if you have very long, or thick hair you will need a second application of vinegar water. Vinegar water removes soap curds, softens, detangles, and balances the PH level of your hair.
