Contrary to popular belief, maintaining a clear and healthy complexion does not require expensive products and professional beauty services. Like most things it simply requires a commitment to an effective regimen. There are 5 basic phases of healthy skincare, using all-natural ingredients, if practiced consistently your complexion will soon be vibrant and lasting.
WATER ONLY CLEANSING
Cleansing your face or body with water alone will not clean it. Water does not have the ability to penetrate dirt and oil, consequently, the pores become clogged with oil, causing pimples, blackheads, and a build-up of dead skin cells, resulting in a very dull and muddy complexion.
CREAM CLEANSING
Cleansing cream is an alternative to soap and water. Cleansing cream for daily cleansing should be applied a minimum of four times and removed with a very warm towel. It will take 4 applications to completely dissolve the dirt and oil trapped in the pores.
SOAP CLEANSING
Women experience problems with soap on their faces because they typically use body or deodorant soap which should never be used to cleanse the face. There are soaps designed specifically for facial care, glycerin soaps are very mild and gentle to the complexion. Health food stores carry a very large selection of natural facial soaps for all skin types. Soap cleansing with the right soap is the most effective in maintaining a vibrant complexion.
PHASE 1
Towel Cleansing – The first step in facial cleansing is towel cleansing with a gentle vegetable facial soap, it removes the dirt, oil, and grime on the skin. Make sure to thoroughly wash the areas around the nose, mouth, and eyes where dead skin accumulates, causing darkened areas. If you wear makeup, remove with a cleansing cream, or apply a small amount of sesame oil and wipe off with a tissue, then proceed with towel cleansing.
🌿 Use a fresh face towel daily.
🌿 Use only white cotton face towels.
🌿 Use white cotton pillowcases and change them, at least every three days.
🌿 Cleanse face twice daily; morning and evening.
PHASE 2
Facial Brushing – The second step in daily facial cleansing, facial brushes lift dead skin cells and helps restore a natural glow back to the skin.
🌿 Using a natural bristle facial brush, gently brush face in a circular motion, a total of three times at each cleansing, rinsing between each brushing.
🌿 Cleanse your facial brush weekly with soapy water, let stand in a solution of vinegar water for 15 minutes.
PHASE 3
Facial Mask – The third step in a clearer complexion is the facial mask, which typically mask unclog pores, exfoliate, and shrink large pores, as well as brighten and help even out the complexion.
Apply the mask to lips and around eyes if it does not have a strong pulling action (such as peel-off mask).
After removing the mask, rinse with cold water to bring the blood to the surface, and tighten the skin by closing pores.
PHASE 4
Tone – Apply parsley or witch hazel toner. Facial toners close and tighten pores, brighten the complexion, and help maintain good elasticity because of their astringent effects. See the link below to make parsley toner ↓.
DIY FRESH PARSLEY FACIAL TONER
- Put a 1/2 cup of chopped parsley into a stainless steel or glass pot (do not use aluminum or, Teflon coated, they are poisonous).
- Pour 1 1/2 cups of boiling hot spring water over the parsley. Cover, and let steep until it reaches room temperature.
- Strain and apply the liquid to the face with hands or a cotton ball.
- Use daily, to keep complexion clear.
PHASE 5
Replenish – Add 1/4 teaspoon to 4 ounces of sesame oil to a mineral oil-free moisturizer (mineral oil clogs the pores). Moisturize neck, ears, and inside of the nose.
